In England and Wales installation work relating to domestic solid fuel, wood and biomass and the associated systems for heating, controls and hot water are subject to Building Regulations.

HETAS is the only government approved competent person registration scheme covering the sale and installation of solid fuel, wood and biomass heating systems. Registered installers are trained, assessed and approved to UKAS standards and can self-certify that their work complies with the relevant Building Regulations and relevant safety standards.

Firefly Stoves Ltd are a HETAS approved installer and retailer of wood burning stoves. That means we’re fully trained and competent to help you select a suitable stove for your home and install it to the highest standards ensuring it is safe, efficient and meets applicable Building Regulations. 

Once your stove has been installed we will register the installation with HETAS and you will then be sent a Certificate of Compliance (Building Regulation Compliance Certificate).HETAS use the information on the certificate to record your installation, and notify your Local Authority Building Control Department of the work that was undertaken. This self-certification takes the place of a Local Authority Building Notice. The information can be required to validate your home insurance and may be needed when you come to sell your home. 

Where a hearth, fireplace, flue or chimney is provided as part of the work, information essential to the correct application and use of these facilities must be permanently posted in the building. This is normally done by installing a Notice (or Data) plate at the property.
